United Methodist Women

United Methodist Women of Dunedin welcomes any woman of the church who expresses a desire to become a member of our unit. The Unit meets both monthly as a whole and in smaller groups known as ‘circles’, where each experience serves as a spiritually enriched fellowship based on Biblical concepts and understanding. We are closely affiliated with Gulf Central District, which is a part of The Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church.

United Methodist Women focus on the Missions aspect of our church with projects to benefit women and youth, locally and abroad. Some of these include spearheading an annual Ditty Bag Drive. The ditty bags help to supply small tangible needs of Florida’s migrant workers, women in shelters, and homeless people. Also high on the list has been providing meals on a regular basis at an area shelter, contributing to supplement tuition and equipment for Children of the World Pre-school, help for Kimberly Home mothers and infants, and filling the internationally-bound Medicine Box. Supporting the many education, life-skills, and healthcare institutions in the U.S. and many other parts of the world is another important way United Methodist Women participate in the global ministries of The Church.

Ditty Bags
If ever there was a need for ditty bags, this year is it! UMCM will collect the filled bags in October when United Methodist Women have the district annual meeting. Please pick out a few of these 'little bags of hope' today. Each one has a list of the needed items. Whether for a man, woman, boy or girl, each bag will be eagerly received. There will be boxes at the entrances for you to return the completed bags or bulk items.
If you would prefer to donate bulk items or cash, these would be welcomed as well. Checks should be made to “United Methodist Women” with "ditty bag" on the memo line. You may bring or mail your check to the church office or put it in the plate on Sunday. Or if you prefer, packages of tube sox, cases of 1.7 oz. Pert shampoo, packs of washcloths, or any quantity of any of the listed items will be of great help. Bulk items will be made available whenever possible. Area supermarkets, drugstore chains, and discount stores are all excellent sources. Ditty Bags will be available most Sundays at the scrip table, so let's get busy!

Would an afternoon Circle be more convenient for your schedule? Rebekah Circle is now holding their meetings at 1:30 pm on the second Tuesday of every month. Or maybe you would prefer Sunday evenings – that’s when Friendship meets. Miriam and Ruth still meet in the mornings so now there are plenty of times to pick from to find the Circle that right for you. Come join us for fun, fellowship, growth and purpose.
