Pastor Joe Teague's preached his last sermon at First United Methodist Church of Dunedin on June 29th. There was a farewell reception for Joe, Claire and Joe, Jr. following both services. We will miss him, but wish him well in his new church in Hudson.

Our new pastor, Rev.Tim Machtel, will preach his first sermon on July 6th. There will be a reception (doughnuts, fruit, etc) in Fellowship Hall for Pastor Tim and family after first service; a reception in Fellowship Hall for Pastor Tim and family with (regular $6 donation) First Sunday Brunch after second service.

Greetings from Pastor Tim

My name is Pastor Tim Machtel and I was born in Marshall, Michigan and spent my elementary years in Kalamazoo, Michigan. My dad worked for a Michigan based retailer named "Jacobsons" for 42 years. In 1977 we moved from Michigan to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida where I spent the rest of my childhood and teenage years. I love south Florida, but have not lived there full-time since 1994. My parents and my sister, brother-in-law and nephew all still live in Palm Beach Gardens.

In 1986 I gave my life to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Since that time it has been a very adventurous and growing time. If I had to sum up my journey with God over the last 22 years I would use the words of the old hymn, "Great is His faithfulness." God has been faithful to bless me with my amazing wife of almost 12 years, Debbie. He has blessed me with two beautiful children in Abigail (9) and Rebekah (almost 7). God has truly been so faithful to us in ways too many to share in this brief bio.

I felt the call to ordained ministry not too long after becoming a Christian. I will tell you more about this later, but it was a big surprise to me. Over the past 20 years I have had the pleasure of serving in various ministry positions. I have served as the Assistant Youth Minister, Director of Student Ministries, and Young Adult Coordinator in several churches. While completing my educational requirements for ordination in The United Methodist Church I served three rural churches Boyd United Methodist Church in Boyd, Kentucky; Trilby United Methodist Church in Trilby, Florida; and Community United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Florida. When I graduated from Seminary I was appointed to Beach United Methodist Church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida where I have served for the last five years.

I am so looking forward to coming to be your Pastor. I believe that God has uniquely prepared me to be your Pastor at this time in the history of First United Methodist Church. We are going to see great things accomplished over the next many years together. You may ask me how I can be so sure. My answer is simply, "Great is God's faithfulness!!"
